I am so thrilled to FINALLY share with you the final look after remodeling my daughter’s room. As you may know, we adopted her in May of 2022 (I cannot believe its been nine months already), and I wanted to do something special to celebrate her and make her feel “officially” at home. It was a lot of work, and I definitely cried a few times with how tedious some parts were, but it was so worth it creating our sweet girls adoption celebration room reveal.
This is where we started with the room. Very dark and very much in need of some TLC, agreed? Here are some more before pictures of the house… woah.
I had to start from square one – the walls. Skim coating the orange peel and then endless hours of sanding, priming and painting. The closet got a functional makeover too with the cutest wallpaper, of course.
I refinished almost every single piece of furniture in the room including her dresser, making for a longer finishing process but one that means more and incorporates countless heirloom pieces.
I really wanted the little details to matter. From the gold curtain rod to the purple velvet curtains and rainbow rug. I wanted warmth, texture and an all around feeling of love.
Now, the room is finally complete and I couldn’t be happier with the result. It’s bright and cheerful, just like my little girl, and it has all the elements that make it both stylish and practical. Seeing her face light up when she saw her new room was the best reward I could have asked for. She truly is a little angel and creating a space for her was something I dreamed about for months as we awaited endless court proceedings, meetings with the state and what felt like an endless amount of meetings with our lawyer. This is the official reveal I shared on instagram of the adoption celebration room makeover!
My heart could burst knowing that our sweet girl has a room to call her own, forever. I hope you love it too! Let me know if you have questions in the comments below.
Beautiful room
Thank you so much Jennifer❤️
Absolutely beautiful!! I really love the color scheme. I can’t wait to read a detailed tutorial of how you chose to do the ceiling because I have the same dilemma!!
Thanks so much Aimie!! It is my favorite room in the house currently. I promise a post is coming soon! xo
