Look, I was too. But good news — it’s not near as hard as it seems, even for a beginner.
Here are my top tips for skim coating:
1. Water down your compound for a smooth finish.
2. Sand after the LAST coat only. For the 1st & 2nd coats, use your trowel to scrape any bumps / lines.
3. Cover the floor. You’ll drip. It’s inevitable. You don’t want it on the floor.
