Want to get creative instead?? Here are some inexpensive yet priceless gift ideas you can DIY this Valentine’s Day!
Let’s be honest: who doesn’t enjoy a relaxing day at the spa? From the steaming sauna and hot stone massage to the manicure and makeover, it’s like heaven. For a hefty price! Thankfully, with a few simple supplies and the perfect setting, you can recreate this experience at home for a fraction of the cost. And no, you don’t need to compromise to have the ideal day (or night!) with your loved one.
You might need to pick up a few things if you don’t already have them tucked away underneath the bathroom sink somewhere. Grab some scented bubble bath soap or bath bombs (you can always rely on lavender and vanilla to induce relaxation) and give your significant other a warm bath. Light some candles throughout the bathroom and turn on mellow music for a tranquil ambiance. Dim the lights, and voilà, you may have just given one of the best DIY Valentine’s gifts known to humankind.
Creating shared experiences is fun, but reminiscing on them is even better—bringing up old memories can be even funnier the second time! If you’re looking for a cute Valentine’s Day idea that you and your significant other can enjoy, consider creating a memory jar filled with love notes. This is extremely easy and falls under “cheap gifts for Valentine’s Day.” But remember, cheap doesn’t have to equal cheesy! They can be some of the most thoughtful DIY Valentine’s Day gifts for him or her to remember.
Using a mason jar, decorative jug, or festive bowl, write some of your favorite memories with each other on small pieces of paper and insert them into the container. Put a memory in for each month you’ve been together over the last year—there aren’t any rules to what you can and can’t include in the jar.
If you need some help jarring your mind, take a quick look through your phone’s photos (I’m sure you have hundreds, if not thousands, to choose from!) for inspiration. Spend time going through the papers and relive the joy of those individual moments. These easy Valentine’s crafts are bound to leave you speechless.
We tend to gravitate toward couples when we think about Valentine’s Day. Although the holiday traditionally represents the love, affection, and admiration felt between romantic partners, why can’t this day also apply to our children? You know, the ones who stole a piece of our hearts the day they were born. This coupon book is perfect for love on a budget. And if you have kids or have ever been around one on the holidays, you know they’re all about gifts! So much so that it’s sometimes a bit overwhelming (but we can’t fault them for it; we’ve all been there).
You can officially end your search if you’re looking for special Valentine’s ideas for kids. I want to introduce you to the concept of a kid’s coupon book—not the one that lets your kids get out of doing their chores! I’m talking about the one that gets them one free ice cream, an hour trip to the local park, or that slip-n-slide they’ve been going on and on about for the last three months. Allow them to cash in on some fun rewards and the ability to create some more lasting memories.
But if you’re looking for cheap gifts for Valentine’s Day, you can always pair a box of their favorite chocolates or candy with a soft teddy bear and call it a day. I can assure you that they will be just as excited and appreciative knowing you thought to include them in this special holiday!
Sometimes the best way to show somebody love is with a little over kill, especially when it comes to V Day, ya feel me?! Use these cute hearts to cut out + tape to the door, fridge or wherever your loved one will see it to make them feel extra loved when they read all of the reasons YOU love them.
Whether you’re looking to create a cute Valentine’s Day gift for your significant other, some spooky Halloween goody bags for the kids, or a winter wonderland giveaway for your annual holiday party, some simple DIY tricks can go a long way. These love on a budget ideas can help but I would suggest to also keep a running list of fascinating things you see throughout the year. Then you can get creative with them when the time comes! Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone—some of the best creations begin this way.
