Welcome to the Flip Hubb family room makeover. I know, I know. The eyesore is unreal. Last March, when our EIGHT feet of snow melted outside, it flooded our family room. Which was tragic but also the perfect kick to finally make it the magical space we had been wanting from the minute we bought the house.
Well, as it turns out we had just bought our flip house which meant we had to leave the basement in an even worse state than it was previously. BUT GOOD NEWS- we’ve come full circle and I’m so excited to be teaming up with The Home Depot to finally show you how we made this room into the perfect movie room and gathering space for us using the Home Depot Services. I started with this moodboard:
With it being freezing where I live (remember the 8 feet of snow?!), I wanted warmth and knew the best way to do that was with a good, cozy carpet. So I went to the best place knowing that I would get the best product and experience for what I needed. I got multiple samples from Home Depot and fell in love with the LifeProof RoseDale Flora in Beige. It’s from the Designer Picks line and it is DREAMY, I tell you. The Designer Picks are amazing for a few reason but here are my favs:
The pattern was more of a risk for me, but I had faith that it would work out. Hint: it turned out better than I could have imagined. Every sample you could ever want or need is available for order & makes picking the EXACT product you want so much easier. We had multiple projects going on so luckily I was able to source everything I needed AND even schedule my Home Depot services appointment online making my life easier and the renovation project much more manageable #winning. After deciding on what carpet I wanted, the Home Depot Team came to my home to do the measurements. Not only were they able to measure BUT I was also able to decide with them where the carpet seam(s) would run and what the best options would be for the room layout. This was so helpful, because oftentimes the seams of carpet can show or get worn. Luckily the Home Depot service team was on top of it and knew exactly what we needed to do.
After they team came and measured (literally got every tiny detail taken care of, which made my life so much easier), we waited for the install team to schedule! I won’t lie, I was a little worried this was going to be a long wait or that with where I live – hello, rural mountain town in the middle of nowhere Idaho, that it would be a less than great experience. I truly could not have been more wrong. It was amazing.
And now, let’s dive into the exhilarating journey of the carpet installation process! So, after eagerly selecting the LifeProof RoseDale Flora in Beige from The Home Depot’s Designer Picks line, the anticipation for its installation was palpable. With the assurance of warmth, style, and durability, we were ready to witness our family room transform into a cozy haven. Once the decision was made, the Home Depot team swung into action. First came the meticulous measurements. Picture this: professionals meticulously surveying every nook and cranny of our space, ensuring not only accuracy but also advising on the optimal placement of seams.
Seam placement might seem like a minor detail, but trust me, it can make all the difference in the final aesthetic. Any apprehension evaporated like morning mist on a sunny day (which in Idaho is yet another fleeting topic, but I digress), as the installation team swiftly scheduled their visit. The efficiency was impressive to say the least, and I couldn’t help but gawk (in a REALLY professional way) at their professionalism.
When installation day finally arrived, it was like watching a well-choreographed dance. The team arrived promptly, armed with all the tools and expertise needed to execute the task flawlessly. They handled every aspect with precision and care, from preparing the subfloor to expertly laying down each section of carpet. As I observed the transformation unfold before my eyes, any lingering doubts dissolved into pure satisfaction. The patterned carpet, once a daring choice, now radiated sophistication and charm. And the best part? The seams were practically invisible, a testament to the craftsmanship and attention to detail. In no time at all, our family room had undergone a remarkable metamorphosis. The warmth and comfort of the carpet enveloped the space, inviting us to sink our toes into its plush embrace. With every step, I couldn’t help but marvel at how seamlessly The Home Depot’s services had brought our vision to life.
After they did their (arguably much more difficult part), I got to FINALLY do the fun part of putting the room back together. If you’ve followed along on Instagram you know that this project has been months in the making! To finally be able to see it come to life is *chefs kiss* SO much fun. From these dreamy curtains to vases and art, there really is nothing quite as satisfying as seeing the vision come to life. Bonus points if it comes together like you had hoped. Hint: as I hinted above, it far exceeded my expectations.
So there you have it, the grand finale of our family room makeover—an ode to the power of quality products and expert craftsmanship. Thanks to The Home Depot, what began as a flood-induced calamity blossomed into a triumph of style and functionality. And as we gather in our newly transformed space, basking in its cozy ambiance, we can’t help but feel grateful for the journey that brought us here. Cheers to new beginnings and endless movie nights in our picture-perfect haven!
Here are links to all of the decor used in the room. So many good ones that if I use, I can assure you, you will love them too.

If you need me I will be cozying up and binging some TV with my family, more than likely rubbing my face against the carpet that we can’t get enough of. Don’t judge me.
